Alto Beta is an artist-run contemporary art gallery located in the beautiful foothill community of Altadena, 16 miles north of downtown Los Angeles. It began in March of 2022, with a focus on emerging and mid-career artists who have not had a solo show in Los Angeles in the previous 3-5 years. Exhibitions are held on a monthly basis, with the exception of July, August, and December when the gallery is closed.
The program strives to showcase the handmade, the ineffable, and the poetic - mostly abstract painting, sculpture, and ceramics. Artists are chosen for solo shows based on the merit and thoughtfulness of their artwork rather than their previous exhibition record or educational level or pedigree. Many of the artists shown have had their gallery debuts here, and several have been from the immediate neighborhood. Alto Beta is run by Brad Eberhard, who has lived in, or very near, the neighborhood for most of the previous 30 years.
NEW LOCATION TO OPEN IN MAY
Alto Beta has a new permanent location in Altadena that opens in May, 2025 and is located at 2359 Lincoln Avenue. Our new gallery is slightly larger, features better light, higher ceilings, a large back courtyard, and is conveniently walking distance from several eateries and Good Neighbor bar. We are so happy to continue being a part of the Altadena community as it rebuilds!
